It’s not just about the Football at VIKINGS…
At YORK VIKINGS Walking Football Club, we think it’s important to support the broader community and those in need.
As a consequence and particularly during the Festive season we organise Walking Football events to raise much needed funds to support the invaluable work our chosen Charities do.
Since our inception, we have supported Scope, Ukrainian Refugees in Yorkshire, The Hugo Pilkington Fund and this year, 2025, we’ll be playing to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity, during the coming Christmas season.
2025: Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity that provides a rapid response emergency service across Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance funding comes from a diverse range of sources, all united in their dedication to supporting the cause.
Every contribution, big or small, plays a vital role in keeping helicopters in the sky and life-saving missions possible.
Each donation makes a significant impact on their ability to respond swiftly to emergencies across Yorkshire.
YORK VIKINGS will be organising a friendly fundraising tournament this Christmas 2025 in support of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

2024: The Hugo Pilkington Fund
Hugo Pilkington has suffered more than any toddler should ever have to endure. At the tender age of just 2, he had already undergone multiple procedures to remove an aggressive brain tumour. Sadly these procedures proved unsuccessful and young Hugo continues now with a number of invasive treatments to manage his condition and ensure the best childhood possible for this brave soldier.

2022: Ukraine Refugees
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many families, predominantly mothers with children, came to the UK to escape the ravages of war and were very kindly hosted by families across Yorkshire and countrywide.
This help, although kind in the extreme, split Ukrainian families up (men being left behind to fight) and created a number of difficult issues for families in terms of psychological problems to language issues in many cases.
Then whilst Government made some funding available to support both Refugees and Hosting families, money to support Ukrainian families, already traumatised by war, in the UK to cover both basics and other necessities became a desperate need and we were pleased to help a little locally.
